February 15, 2023 – VSL, The Netherlands
Dr. Koen Buisman (University of Surrey, UK) and Dr. Faisal Mubarak (VSL, The Netherlands) have jointly organised a training course on ‘non-50 Ohm and Multiphysics measurements’, hosted in VSL on 15th Feb. 2023.
The characterisation of communication devices and systems brings many challenges. In particular, when non-50-Ohm measurements are needed, special care must be taken. During this training course, the limitations of non-50 Ohm measurements were discussed, after an introduction to large signal measurements, error, and uncertainty.
Particular attention was given to power calibration using transfer standards, which is of particular importance for on-wafer measurements. Finally, how to combine non-50-ohm measurements with multi-physics thermal and RF electric field measurements was shown.
Talks were provided by Mr. Syed Karrar Haider (VSL, The Netherlands), Mr. Ehsan Shokrolahzade (TU Delft, The Netherlands), Dr. Dilbagh Singh (NPL, UK), Mrs. Devika Poduval (VSL, The Netherlands), Dr. Koen Buisman (University of Surrey, UK).
The audience was composed of more than 40 attendees. They were from across both the key EU and UK Industrial Companies and Universities such as TU Delft (The Netherlands), Eindhoven University of Technology (The Netherlands), Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden), LNE (France), PTB (Germany), National Instruments (Belgium), University of Cassino and Southern Lazio (Italy), Czech Technical University (Czech Republic), HITECH RF & Microwave Solutions (The Netherlands), Vertigo Technologies (The Netherlands), INTA (Spain), etc.
